North Stradbroke Island is easily accessible by water taxi or vehicular ferry, with regular services operating from Cleveland.
From Brisbane
By car
Follow signs on Old Cleveland Road through to Cleveland (30 mins).
The water taxi & vehicle ferries depart from Toondah Harbour, Emmett Drive, Cleveland.
By rail
Take the Citytrain to Cleveland from Central or Roma Street Stations (60 mins).
Regular buses depart Cleveland Station for a short five minute trip to Toondah Harbour where you can catch a water taxi.
If you get go card you get small discount.
From airport by rail
Catch the airtrain from the airport to Central or Roma Street Station, Brisbane.
Then take the train to Cleveland from Central Station (total trip 90 – 100 mins).

From airport by taxi
Depending on the time of day you are traveling, catching a taxi from the airport direct to Cleveland (40 mins) cost approx. $75.
From Gold Coast
By car
Travel north along the Pacific Highway and take the Cleveland exit (No. 30) onto Cleveland/Beenleigh Redland Bay Road and follow the signs to Cleveland.
By bus + train
Buses depart from the Surfers Paradise bus terminal for the Brisbane Transit Centre. Catch the Citytrain from the Transit Centre to Cleveland.
From Sunshine Coast or Brisbane airport by car
Head South along the Gateway Motorway and over the Gateway Toll Bridge. Turn left into Old Cleveland Road (approx. 5km) from the bridge and follow the signs to Cleveland.
From Cleveland Station to ferry
Regular buses depart Cleveland Station for a short five minute trip to Toondah Harbour, where you can catch a water taxi.
If you are going to use Water taxi, you can use free bus.
The free Stradbroke Flyer courtesy bus picks up water taxi passengers from the Cleveland Train Station 10 minutes prior to each water taxi departure. As you exit the train station follow the footpath to your right around to the bus stop. The free Stradbroke Flyer courtesy bus also picks up passengers from Middle Street, Cleveland bus stop, outside the Commonwealth Bank, 15 minutes prior to each water taxi departure. Getting across the water
Vehicle ferry
You can book ferry for your vehicle directly at Stradbroke Ferries. Travel time is about 50 minutes.

Once on the island
Bus
Once on the island there is a range of transport options bus system operating between Dunwich, Amity Point and Point Lookout.
Car
All the townships are linked with sealed roads that are accessible by conventional vehicles, however a 4WD is required for driving on beaches.
Permits can be obtained from the Straddie camping or various places on the island.
